In The Class
Check www.rolfdkroom1.blogspot.ca for pictures of our class happenings . If you have any extra Christmas wrap, ribbons or any seasonal decor that you no longer want, we would love to take it off you hands. Thanks in advance!

Illness
We have had a lot of absences due to illness in our class this week. Please remember that for the health of all people in the class your child must by symptom free (bad cough, green runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea) for 24 hours before returning to school. If the doctor has prescribed medication, they need to be on that medication for 24 hours before returning. Also, please continue to check your child's hair regularly for head lice.

Math
While we continue to explore patterning, we have also been spending time looking at teen numbers. Any reinforcement of patterning and number recognition at home will be helpful for your child..

Independence
Some of our students are starting to learn to zip their zippers. As the cold weather comes, zippers need to be done up several times a day. Please help us out by taking the time to show your child how to do up their zipper. We are doing the same at school with those students who still need help. Help them join the Zipper Club....ask them about it!

Important Days in Room 1
Tuesday - library book exchange
- SK with Snuggle Up books, please return them

Elfish surprise

Mrs. D received a phone call on Wednesday......the children heard that there was a call and were curious as to who it was.  Well, it was Santa asking how they have been behaving and that he was going to be watching.

Later that afternoon Mrs. Pope came in to our class with a package and a letter that was left on her desk.  She delivered it personally and what was in it was a big surprise.

Santa had sent us Elwyn the Elf to watch and report.

The Gruffalo

The children listened to the story about the Gruffalo this week.  They loved the story soooo much that they wanted to make some Gruffalo crafts.  We made masks and cutouts.  They have asked to make more so keep an eye out for what we create.

Whale inquiry

We learned that a blue whale is 16 kids long.  We lay down the hall head to foot to see how long that looked.  It reaches from our door to almost Ms. Jedore's classroom door.  We also learned that it would not fit in our class.

Fall fair tally

We took a survey about who went to the fall fair this weekend.  As it turned out all the children went to the fair but none of the teachers went.  The children thought that was funny.

A fish is a fish

Our new fish friend has sparked interest in under the sea.  Our friends made a sunken pirate ship today.  We will be learning about everything you can find in the sea.

We have yet to decide on a name for this little guy.

The animal shelter

M said this animal shelter was for all the animals in the world that needed a place to live.  They didn't have a home anymore and at the shelter they would be happy and safe and they could play.  If she could adopt any animal she would adopt the rainbow pig.  It has all the colours in the world and you could only get it at this shelter.  You had to be nice and not mean to adopt animals, so you could love them.
